The theme for World Children’s Day 2023 is ‘For Every Child, Every Right!’

As the world remains sharply divided on the unfolding tragedies in the Middle East, cyber criminals apparently strive for unity and humanitarian support for children… by trying to scam people out of crypto donations.

“Together, we can make a difference. No contribution is too small!” they said.

“Let’s come together to bring a ray of hope into the lives of children!” they said.

Using emotionally charged phishing to promote a bogus children’s charity is unfortunately an effective tactic employed by scammers during a crisis.

Unscrupulous Scammers Align their Criminal Premises to Exploit Concern Over Childrens Safety

From a legitimate-looking domain name to actual hyperlinks of news reports of unfolding tragedies, this type of fraud doesn’t just impact those few who fall for it, but it undermines public trust en masse, potentially reducing real contributions to organizations doing great work to help children in need.

World Children’s Day 2023 is therefore a good opportunity for me and The KnowledgeFlow Cybersafety Foundation to raise awareness of cyberfraud and to support actual humanitarian causes.

Amazing organizations like these deserve to be recognized for their sacrifices and supported for doing the hard work in conflict zones:

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Canada/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)UNRWAOxfamHuman Rights WatchInternational Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies – IFRCInternational Committee of the Red Cross – ICRC and many others.
